What Is The Keto Flu?
The Keto Flu is a response to entering ketosis and often times mimics symptoms of the flu, hence the name “keto flu.” What’s happening is, you’re feeling the symptoms of withdrawal from carbs and sugars.
Your body has been burning carbohydrates (glucose) for energy for years, so switching to a fat-burning process throws up red flags to the body. When carb intake is drastically reduced, such as on the keto diet, your body will deplete stored glucose and begins to burn fatty acids for energy.
Once your body is in ketosis you are burning fat for fuel and your body is then creating ketones that it uses for energy rather than using glucose or sugar for fuel.

- Muscle soreness and cramping
How Supplementing with Ketones Help
Supplementing with ketones help prevent or minimize the symptoms of the Keto-Flu by supplying the body with ketones (energy) while it transitions away from using carbs and sugars as its main fuel source.
Having ketones that you can drink helps signal to the body that it is not in distress and in danger of running out of fuel, but rather that the body has plenty of fuel and aids in a speedy transition to burning fat without the “withdrawal” effect.
